The directorate of ICT offered technical support to the 1st Virtual international conference in Kenya and in Moi University. The International conference was jointly hosted by PTRE (Centre of Excellence in Phytochemicals, Textile and Renewable Energy) based in Moi University and SAISTA (Sino-Africa Symposium on Textiles and Apparel) based in Donghua University. The ICT directorate was tasked in facilitating a successful virtual International Conference with regards to choice of platform to run the event, connectivity, training of the conference participants on the use of the platform, etc.
The three-day online event (12th – 14th August 2020) themed: Advancing Science, Technology and Innovation for Industrial Growth, was officially opened by Ambassador Simon Nabukwesi, Principal Secretary, State Department for University Education and Research, Ministry of Education. Other dignitaries present during the opening ceremony included: Prof. Jianyong Yu, President, Donghua University, Dr. Pam Fredman (International Association of Universities, IAU), Ms. Ruth Charo (Senior Education Specialist, World Bank, Kenya), Moi University Management Board, Centre of Excellence in Phytochemicals, Textile and Renewable Energy (ACEII PTRE) Steering Committee among others.
